I think this the cheapest for generic Benicar right now:
http://www.planetdrugsdirect.com/SearchResults/benicar/
It is from India, through a Texas based company. At least a couple members have found it fine, even tasting better and only 90 cents per 40 mg tablet ($81.00 for 90 tablets with free shipping, I believe).
But allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

I ordered the generic Benicar as Joyce detailed above, today. I was able to order a max 3 month supply, and also use my credit card. I scanned my script and sent it via email. Very simple. We'll see if it comes through. I'll repost here if it doesn't work out.
I also have a Canadian golf buddy, who is in India right now, and said the cheap generic version is available in India, and wanted to know how much I wanted. I told him we probably could not legally buy it for me that way.

Will Planet Drugs ship before they have your prescription in hand? Regarding prescriptions, they ask if they have your prescription on file, but have a checkbox for "No, I will send one." Does that mean they won't ship until they have it in hand, or will they ship anyway?
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Alan, I would assume they cannot ship until they have a copy of your prescription from doc. They accepted my script which I scanned and sent via email. It you can do that, that would be the most expedient method.
I just received my generic Benicar about 20 days after ordering. Max order is 3 months supply. It appears to have come from Germany according to the post mark. Customs declaration appears to be via Canada. (Don't know how Texas is involved???)
The packaging indicates it originates in India, brand name is "Olmecip 40", from Cipla LTD, and it is described as "Olmesartan Medoxomil 40 mg". It is a round pill.
Hope that helps. John

I believe you can also FAX the prescription. If you don't have a way to FAX or scan and email from home, you could probably go somewhere to FAX it. I used to FAX things from Kinko's.

As I am getting ready for MP Phase 2, I wanted a better way to have 25mg doses of Minocycline available.
Just in case some of this information is useful to someone else, here is what I learned...
My problem right now is that the minocycline powder actually seems to gain a gram or two simply while sitting on my scale (humidity?) and gets clumpy, making hard to manipulate.
I don't have this problem with other powdered antibiotics, they seem to flow easily, not clumping at all. I could keep on dividing these doses out of the capsules, but I just wanted to find out how much it would cost to aviod this job.
Last summer, I paid $30 for #100 of 50mg generic minocycline capsules. That batch expires in January of 2009. But, I have to work with the powder directly to divide them. (Fifteen cents per 25mg.)
I called my pharmacy and they offered me #15 of 50mg Dynacin tablets that I could split in half myself for $45. That is $1.50 per 25mg! (Not a good option.) Since I am paying out of pocket, this was definitely not a reasonable option. I am pretty shocked by the price of this one tablet form they found available.
Then I asked for a quote for them to compound the 25mg minocycline for me. They offered to make #100 of 25mg of generic minocycline capsules for $60. (Sixty cents per 25mg , or 4x the price of the 50mg capsules.)
I suppose that someone with insurance could even beat my price for the 50mg capsules, but getting an insurance company to pay for compounding would be a little more difficult. My research doesn't offer any inexpensive options for avoiding hand dividing the capsules.
p.s., On a related topic, on another post someone recommended using glycine paper for handling the powders. I believe that the large envelopes the post office uses to hold stamps are made of glycine paper if anyone is looking for an inexpensive way to obtain this paper.

I bought my Benicar from Planetdrugsdirect, I simply faxed over a copy of my prescription to their 800 fax number. It took about 22 days to get my order, and they say to allow 30-35 in some circumstances.
I have to say I'm quite happy with the Olmecip I recieved, it worked out to roughly $240 for 270 tablets. A lot better than the $246 per 120 I was paying locally. They come in their own orange & white boxes, with 3 sets of blister packs containing 10 each. They have virtually no taste, and in my opinion they work just as well, if not a little better than the Sankyo benicar 40mg I was getting from my local pharmacy.
Like everyone else, my order arrived with a stamp via Germany. The medication is clearly marked as being from India, even listing a minimum price in Indian rupees on it. I find it very convienent to carry the blister pack with me instead of a bulky pill bottle.
If you can get your doctor to do it, have them write you a prescription for a large quantity with several refills on it. Most doctors offices will even fax over the prescription for you if you ask nicely. Once they have a prescription with several refills on it, the reorder process is very painless. You can do it online, or over the phone via their 800 #. Order in advance 30-35 days so you never have to worry about running out.
The only downside with them is that their delivery system does not have tracking. They will tell you when the order ships, but you can not track en route with their shipping method like UPS/Fedex.
I was a little leery at first, but now that I've ordered from them, they are indeed reputable. Its a godsend for me as this one is out of pocket.

I have found a less expensive source of olmecip at http://www.canadageneric.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/product.display/pn/Benicar.Olmesartan/product_id/5486.htm
90 tablets (40 mg) are $49.00 with free shipping!
Yes, that is less than 55 cents per tablet.
Took 2 weeks from date of order to receive the package shipped from the UK, made in India by Cipla Ltd. The interesting thing is that the B.No. (D71454), manufacture date (Jun 07) and expiration date (May 09) on the packaging is the same as on my last order from Planet Drugs Direct.
Requires that a prescription be mailed, faxed, or emailed to Canada Generic.

For those who buy brand-name Benicar...
I have just recieved the discouraging news from my pharmacist that the wholesale prices they pay for Benicar have jumped for the second time in 7 months. I can't understand why SANKYO needs to keep raising the price on this drug.
... I just looked online and another company, Forest Laboratories, Inc., is listing Benicar as their product? {http://www.frx.com/products/benicar.aspx} did SANKYO get bought out ? I'm confused!

Forest has been contracted by Sankyo to market Benicar in the USA.
Sankyo has been forced by the Japanese Government to lower the price it charges in Japan ( http://tinyurl.com/2j2r5o ), so I suspect they are taking advantage of the US political environment to reclaim their profits by overcharging in this country.

| I also was just having the same problem with Benicar, My pharmacy's price for Benicar is now $320.00 a month, which is WAY out of my league. I have obviously have had to look for other options. I will now be using Olmetec, I believe that is the name? I hope it works like Benicar does....Is there a difference in the two?

Shandy,
I am sorry that you are having so many hurdles thrown in your path Olmetec is the German brand equivalent to Benicar, as is Olmecip (the Indian brand). I have see prices of $49 and $44 for 90 Olmecip tablets, imported from Europe via pharmacies in Canada and New Zealand. Keep an eye open for posts from people who have had good experience importing, but remember not to order too many tablets at once, as there is always the chance that you will hit somebody in US Customs who will sieze or delay your shipment.
Make sure you order the pure Olmesartan Medoxomil, and not the tablets which have other BP lowering drugs added to the Olmesartan. Often there is a single pull-down menu of products, and you need to be careful selecting the correct one

Ahhhh, so!
{guess we won't tell them it's just driving the market underground}
