If you put your email address in your profile, you will receive an email when you have a new message. To find your message, click No new messages at the top right of each study site page next to the Logged in As.
To send a private message
Private messages are like e-mail. They are off /not on the public board. Only the recipient will see them. You can send a private message to someone in several ways.
To reply::
To reply to a private message, press the reply button which is obvious when the PM is opened to read.
To send:
click the Write New button, address your message exactly by typing the username of the recipient in the To: field...
and write your message.. etc and send..
* Alternatively, you can click on the username of a person, and select the Send a Private Message option from a pop-up menu (note: not all browsers support this).
You can send private messages to multiple recipients by separating their usernames with a comma.
When sending a new private message, if the user name is not correct, the message will be lost. Usernames have to be typed exactly or the message wont go and you will lose the message. >>> To reduce frustration, when sending a new message, always copy your text before you click send. Then, if you have mistyped the screen name and lose the message, you can paste it on a new screen and try again.
* Another way to get the exact username: see the Members button at the top of the screen. This takes you to the MEMBER LIST.
The Member pages may not show every registered name to the end of that alphabetical list if there isn't a next full page but the user name can also be found if you:
-type the name, or part of the name into "search" and mark the box below to "search by username".
-from the identity information at left of each post, click name of person you want to PM. Choose "Send a Private Message" from popup menu. A dialog box entitled "Write a New Message" appears, with "To:" field populated with name of intended recipient. The rest is similar to "Post Reply" for a public thread.
