Hi Barney
Glad to hear you've been able to start the mino. Been on it a few days now and from what I can tell it normally hits you the next day. Keep up the good work!

Hi Bonita!
Relax with the dish thing... Trust me they will be there when you feel like doing them. May be a bit fuzzy, but you will recognize them! Tired is one of the most familiar experiences while on the MP. Enjoy the future months with rest and recovery! Can;t fight it! So lets enjoy it!

| BIG JOHN, YOU WOULD THINK I COULD GET THE DISHES DONE, WHEN ALL I HAVE TO DO IS PUT THEM IN THE DISHWASHER, BUT I JUST KEEP LOOKING AT THEM AND LIKE YOU SAY THEY WILL BE THERE UNTIL I'M READY. WELL, I BROKE DOWN AND THEY ARE DONE NOW. NEED TO LOTS OF OTHER HOUSEWORK THAT I AM GOING TO IGNORE. I AM DOING JUST WHAT YOU SAID, RESTING AND ENJOYING MY QUIET TIME. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE CHECKING IN ON ME (BY PHONE) ALL THE TIME, SO I FEEL BLESSED. THANK YOU FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT. I AM TOTALLY AMAZED AT HOW WELL I AM DOING, BUT I AM VERY DILLIGENT ABOUT STAYING OUT OF THE SUN AND OFF VIT D. TAKE CARE, HANG IN THERE, WE WILL MAKE IT!!!! BARNEY

Did you know... a cat sleeps on average 16hrs/day, then, as they age, their sleep levels increase?
Maybe we're all just cat people...?

Reenie,
I wish I was a kitty-kat. I could handle 16 hours straight. Most of my sleep is broken most of the time, either by the phone, my dog wanting in or out, or bathroom calls. But...I am thankful for the good sleep I do get. Fell asleep in the recliner twice today. I will be going to bed shortly (as soon as I take my nighttime pill). I know if we Hang in there, we will make it!!!! Barney

DAY 35 BP 138/75 P 87
Tonite will be my 2nd minocin (that's 48 hrs after the first). No herxing that I can think of. Been sleepy, falling asleep in the recliner while watching tv. Not doing much of anything but resting. Uneventful day. Still on Benicar q3hrs, etc. Doing good. Hang in there, we will make it!!!!! Barney

DAY 36 BP 95/68 P 86
I guess I bragged to soon. Lymph nodes in neck feel swollen. Pain in neck and shoulders has hurt pretty bad all day and the pain pills are hardly working. I will take a quercetin (pure, 400mg) when I go to bed. Very sleepy and it's only 8:30pm.
I am doing well otherwise, sugar readings are now down to a reasonable amount. Am really getting intense on diet, no D, only low carb.
Hang in there, we will make it!!!!!!!!! Barney

DAY 37 BP 120/91 p 86
I am not sure, but I think this should be my last post on this site, since I am on Quercetin plus mino/benicar. Please advise.
What a bad bad bad bad bad bad bad night. I can hardly swallow, not because it hurts my throat, but it hurts the right side of my mouth, my ear (my ear is killing me like an ear ache or like somebody drove about a 6 inch diamater spike in it, my tooth (which had a complete root canal and should not be able to hurt) feels just like it has a tooth ache. This will make me think twice before I put that next minocin in my mouth. HOWEVER, I will take it because I want to see what it feels like to be (normal) well. It is weird tho, I can touch either spot with my finger and it does not hurt. Very weird!!!! I am going to put my very warm 'hot sox' on the outside of my right jaw (that hurts too) and see if I can ease this pain along with a pain pill. ttyl Barney

Still day 37,
I whipped the herx. 1 pain pill, 1 asprin, 1 quercetin, and warmed my rice sock up and held it on the right side of my head. Almost feeling good again. Still just a smigen of herxing left. Did I do the right things? Is heat okay? Barney

Hey Barney
Glad you managed to ease your pain. Sounds horrible and you did well to get through it. Not tried quercetin yet myself but glad you found it helped. Keep going!

Hi Barney
Dr Marshall recommends tylenol rather than aspirin, sounds like you are herxing well and managing well..
all best, Barb ...

Barb, I had been thinking about Tylenol. I used to use it, 20 years ago. The fiorinal that I take has asprin in it, I add another asprin to take the pain away. This the only pain meds that I have not had any problems with. I think I will buy a small bottle and try it in place of the Fiorinal. Do you know why Dr M prefers it?
I am herxing a little still but it is bearable. I am due to take 25 mg again tonite. I need to go to the next town (60 miles) and do some serious shopping and am thinking I may wait till tomorrow nite to take the Mino. Is there any problem with that or would I be messing up my healing pattern?
Thank you. Barney

BARNEY,
Aspirin is a blood thinner. If you can avoid taking aspirin and meds which contain it, all the better while on the MP. If you must take products containing aspirin, please be careful. Blood thinners are cautioned while on the MP, but not forbidden.
There's no reason why you can't alter your mino dosing, especially if you're still feeling herx. By all means, wait and get yourself some supplies first. If you need to skip a day or alter your timing to fit a Dr's appt or some other errand, do so.
Take care
PS would you kindly update your sig line to include your mino start date and dose? TIA

Reenie,
I did as you requested and added dates to meds. Also please note that I switched to Fiorocet (which contains tylenol instead of asprin). Will see how it works. It usually does not work for me without an added asprin but we will see how it goes. Herxing is just hurting enough to be irritating so I took it and a quercetin and will apply the warm sock so it will finish going away. I hope I have put everything on correctly. Very sleepy and a little brain fog. Will follow your advice and get supplies in before any more mino. Will take it tomorrow after I get back from shopping. Of course, I will cover up good to go and hopefully be there after dark. Got dishes in dishwasher and did a couple loads of clothes that were necessary. Other than that, it can all wait since no one else lives here to complain.
Thanks for the help. I am going to go take a nap but will check the site before I turn in for the night. If you need anything else, please let me know. THANKS!!Barney
