Does the MP affect libido and/or sexual capacity?

As the MP resolves inflammation, this healing will likely restore libido and sexual capability.

re libido or ED (erectile dysfunction) and MP..
As well as being affected by the disease process, libido can be affected by immunopathology. Knowing this may help to allay anxiety. In addition to managing immunopathology to tolerable, see below for personal stories.

Dr Marshall: "IMO It is best not to supplement Testosterone, as it encourages transcription by the estrogen receptor of more VDR."

from a male MPer to a female MPer:
I thought I'd let you know that men have and are experiencing loss of Libido whilst on the MP as well. I am a 46 yr old male and my loss of Libido was quite sudden, in the first year of MP. My experience has varied since then. It lasted for nearly 9 months. I am at 90-95%;) and its been rare that I fall back to those bad old days.

I suppose by the time we start the MP and read up on all the changes and symptoms that might happen to us during healing, we assume wev'e got it all covered. Unfortunately, this symptom is one that we probably never facted. " It will never happen to me syndrome " How wrong.:X

Look, you say your partner is very understanding. Thats great and so he should be. Im sure you both knew the implications prior to the commencement of the MP. My wife is also very understanding and knows that there was going to be some rocky roads ahead. It has to be.... We are at war with those bugs in our bodies.

From my experience to date, is to try to engage in this activity when you may feel able to at that time. It maybe spontaneous but, Your partner Im sure is flexible. He or she needs to be at this time in the recovery cycle.. It is difficult but it can be managed if you both work at it. Im sure this symptom will recover as you heal. Don't let it get you down. Think positive and be open with your partner in talking about managing the situation for this short period whilst you recover.:)

Its not an easy subject to talk about...

Hang in there and regards,

PS I didnt try the Viagra option.

I think my liver, kidneys and all other organs working hard enough eradicating toxins released by the bacteria and use of K/creme/sunscreens.

I am self managing my problem and engaging in this activity only if and when my body says so. It's just the way it is for now. Focussing on the big picture is what the MP is all about for me. I am making slow progress and Im sure this symptom will improve in time.

take care,:)

I have, off and on, experienced similar problems to you despite the fact that I am only 43-years old.

Those wonderful blue pills fix things completely - all anxiety gone!

Give it a shot - it is embarassing at first to go to the doc, and then collect them from the pharmacy - but that is more than made up for.

Good luck

Viagra:
Before I started the MP, and for a year or so into it, I was "Viagra dependent".  I've been on the MP about 2 3/4 years now and no longer need it.

Caution:
A watchout with Viagra (and most likely the other ED drugs) is that they lower blood pressure.  Often your herx (immunopathology) will cause low blood pressure.  The combination of the two can make you very dizzy when standing up, sometimes needing to sit back down a few times until your BP is high enough to support standing... and even then the very low BP can make you feel bad.

So, be careful standing up or you may need stitches or a cast from falling.

Female perspective: approx 9 months on the MP ~K An unexpected improvement has been increased libido.  I've never had much of a libido at all.  In the past I had tended to attribute this to being on anti-depressants (which I went on in my early 20s).  Although I'm still on anti-depressants, I now have some libido! Yay!)

Testosterone
P.B. wrote:
"I do not recommend testosterone replacement. One can expect "free" levels to return to normal in time as your hormonal system rights itself with MP treatment. The hormonal system is so intricate that often times giving exogenous "replacement" causes suppression of endogenous production and causes dependence on a drug instead of letting your own body regulate itself and produce its own natural hormones. Drugs can never hope to equal the bodies ability to regulate itself. Only in a more dire situation would replacement be indicated in my opinion."~
