Will re-infection occur if my partner or family members are not treated?

Everyone is exposed to intracellular bacteria in a variety of ways. Some persons who are apparently healthy may be harboring L-form bacteria. Greg Blaney, MD wrote:

"If one is concerned about family members of a patient with Th1 disease, one can always do a minocycline probe (except for children under 8 years of age) and see if they Herx. I, despite elevated 1,25 OH D and some annoying symptoms, was functioning at a high level prior to starting the MP. Subsequently, I realized how affected I was by the illness, now that I am experiencing improvements in health, especially with stamina, cognitive function and moods."

To verify the absence of Th1 inflammation, the D tests can be done or a therapeutic probe with minocycline may be used. Please see:

Some of my family members appear to have Th1 inflammatory symptoms. What should they do?

What is a therapeutic probe?

If other family members are positive for bacterial infections and/or Th1 symptomatic, it is theoretically possible to pass these organisms back and forth if effective treatment is not begun. Trevor wrote:

"Dr Andy Wright, in his Chicago presentation, said he very rarely sees a family in which the spouses do not both have the L-forms in their blood. That is what I am seeing too. But the less ill a partner is, the less difficulty they will have throwing off the infection"

It is not known whether persons only mildly symptomatic will eliminate these bacteria with minocycline alone or whether the full MP is necessary.

However, intracellular bacteria grow very slowly. When you are on the Marshall Protocol, you will be killing them faster than they can multiply. Once the immune system is functioning properly, one should be able to maintain homeostasis with regards to environmental pathogens without disease. Dr. Marshall wrote:

"The spread of Th1 disease in families is undeniable. Some members come down with RA, some with CFS, as well as a mix of the other Th1 diseases.

But these diseases takes a long time to progress (usually many years), and will come on gradually and be easy to cure with the MP.

I am certain that once all the herx is gone that there are no longer any intracellular bacteria to move into the bloodstream. At that point, the end of aggressive MP therapy, the patient would no longer be capable of transmitting any CWD disease through casual or intimate contact, IMO."

"It seems that the 'germs' are passed around families pretty easily. The NIH ACCESS study found an incidence of Sarcoidosis in spouses 1000 times higher than could be expected. Dr Garth Nicholson's studies on Chronic Fatigue and Autism and Golf War Syndrome, found that 70% or more of family members were infected at 10 years after their fathers returned from Iraq (see URL http://autoimmunityresearch.org/garth-30th.ram )

The good news is those words "10 years." These bacteria grow very slowly, and are easy to kill before they overcome the immune system, now that we have the knowledge of how to do that.

In exactly the same way that 'healthy folks' have flu shots every year, folks who have recovered from Th1 disease will need a short course of MP antibiotics to make sure that any bugs they accumulate will get killed off before they can cause any more chronic disease."

"There have been studies done by Dr Garth Nicholson (and his colleagues) which show that CFS and Autism tend to spread within families. Fathers who came home from the gulf war infected children who were not born before the father had left for war. We know that Minocycline alone is not enough to get rid of the antibiotic-resistant bacteria which cause these Th1 diseases. Nobody knows if it is enough to stop them spreading." Dr. Marshall, PhD
