July 27-29th will mark a major milestone for the Autoimmunity Research Foundation, as those dates mark a conference at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) at which we will start to explore how our new science will affect many areas of human endeavor, in addition to curing chronic immune disease.
In a way, we already started this process when we presented at Karolinska on neurological disease. However, the emphasis to date has been on cure, and now we need to look at prevention. At what constitutes health.
The conference schedule and abstracts are now online. I am scheduled to speak at 5pm on Sunday 29th.

The conference is organized in two parts. There is a late-afternoon conference on Fri 27th which is free, and open to the public (which I suspect many of our LA members may want to attend), and a scientific conference on Saturday and Sunday. Info about the two can be found at:

Interestingly, I was reading over the methusalah foundation's site last night when I came across their lysosens research.
Cells have a lot of reasons to break down big molecules and structures into their component parts, and a lot of ways to do so. Unfortunately, one of the main reasons to break things down is because they have been chemically modified so that they no longer work, and sometimes these chemical modifications create structures that are so weird that none of the cell's degradation machinery works on them.
This situation is very rare, but in the long run these modified chemicals add up. Ultimately the chemicals end up in the lysosome, a special vessel that contains the most powerful degradation machinery in the cell; if something can't be broken down there, it just stays there forever. This doesn't matter in cells that divide regularly, because division dilutes the junk enough that it remains at harmlessly low levels, but non-dividing cells gradually fill up with this stuff, making them dysfunctional. The heart, the back of the eye, some nerve cells (especially motor neurons) and, most of all, white blood cells trapped within the artery wall all suffer from this.
I couldn't help but ask myself the question "here are a list of symptoms associated with TH1 syndromes, could CWD bacteria be the missing causal link from their perspective?"

There seems quite a challenge at the conference for you Dr. M. Just see that at the Methuselah website they refer to the same article and promote Vitamin D supplementation

It is not surprising that nearly every place where Th1 Chronic Inflammatory Disease and diseases of aging are discussed that a link to an article about half the story of D is told. After all is said and done, the evidence for low 25D will confound the very folks who have worked so hard to find that detail in Chronic Inflammatory Disease (right data for the wrong reason still is producing profoundly correct initial data about low 25D  ).
Also, one of the two financial program outcomes Methuselah offers is focused on murine models. So I would expect some clarification on how human VDR differ from all animal models, and why in-silico data can help inform again, for a fuller perspective.
It will be good to have those from the Autoimmunity Research Foundation there to tell, who know the relevant information and can clear up misinformation.

Alayne,
I would prefer if we could be sitting at as many tables as possible during the symposium dinner, so we can let the delegates know what we have found. I have recorded a rehearsal of the presentation I will be giving, so that any one of us who can attend the conference will understand what the message is which we need to convey to this group (check your PM, I just sent you the URL for the preview)
Maybe we can get together for an 'MP reunion' on Thursday evening?

Well, Trevor, that makes a lot more sense. Great idea for folks getting together Thursday night. That would be great! Thanks for the link as well - gives me a better overview of what to talk about.
I do hope folks write in if they're coming. That way we can arrange a Thurs night meet-up. If our place was big enough for more than two people, I'd invite everyone here. However, unless someone comes up with a way to shrink to about 6" in size, I won't be able to to.

This is Fred in WV. I can not make it there either, but I sure hope there is DVD of it later. My MP doctor ask me if there would be a DVD, that he was interested in aging. He wants a copy of the DVD if you do have one later.

Please make sure you register for the dinner. The Foundation will reimburse the $30 cost, please don't let that be a hindrance to you.
The more people we have present at the Friday evening symposium, and have present at the dinner, the more of an impact we will be able to make in the main conference
This is an important conference, as it allows us to get our science out to a much wider audience of researchers. It is the science which will eventually allow us to deliver help to the folk in our society who are so sick, Medicine can't keep ignoring the science for ever...

I plan to attend and hope to see other MPers there. I enquired for more specifics and Aubrey said that the seminar itself is from 5 pm to 8 pm and will probably have a break around 6:30. The dinner is 8 pm until around 9:30ish and there will be drinks afterwards.
I asked (for my brother, who might attend), if one had to leave early if it would be O.K. and he said that one could leave at the break, but just be sure to register on the web site.
I plan to arrive for the complimentary drinks and reception at 4 pm and stay for the dinner.
It will be great to see Alayne and Jacks again, and of course, the rest of the MP team. I also look forward to meeting Amy in person and hopefully some of the rest of you who live in the area.

I thought I should mention that it is only the Friday seminar that is free. The conference on Saturday and Sunday is fairly expensive to attend.

Jacks and I plan to be there at 4 and will stay through the dinner after the talks. Really looking forward to seeing some very familiar faces again - TM, Meg, Joyce. And meeting Amy, Paul and others for the first time.
I don't know of anything going on Thursday night. I would have liked to have planned something, but belatedly remembered that I have a Thurs evening class I can't miss.
However, it would be nice to put faces to the MP folks who are coming, like Mindy and Efrenz. How will we know who you are? If you'd like, you can pm me your cell #'s and we can find you there.
It be easier if I just wore my wizard's cap, then you'd see me from a mile off. Alas, I gave it up, as it doesn't really block much light.

P.S. I think that traffic will be pretty hellacious getting to/into UCLA. The LA Film Festival is also running there concurrently with crowds of folks. When I drove past the other day, it looked like a big cluster yuck. Probably giving yourself some extra time to get there, especially if you're unfamiliar with the area, isn't a bad idea.

This story was just on NPR re Alzheimer's and calcium regulation. Just wondering if it could be linked to the MP theory, as the 1,25D would be affecting the calcium regulation, hence the findings in this study. Anyway, since it is topical, it might be discussed at the conference.
