I have finished editing the final video from Porto. This contains fragments of the Welcoming and Poster Sessions, as well as some of the 'extra-curricular activities'...

Trevor,
When I go to the link it asks me to log in with a password. Is there a password? or a way around this?

Thank you.......and thanks for all the work you all put into this. Every day my life gets better because of you and this discovery.

Trevor, will you summarize for us the type of reception you and the rest received re your discoveries? Was it an "ooh, ahh" type reception, or was it "hmm, this sounds interesting" reception? Was it as positive as you had hoped?

Rico, you can tell from the questions following my talk that at least one member of the audience understood the implications of the metagenomic microbiota.

That said, it will take a while for what we said to sink into the consciousness of most of the delegates.

However, the Internet videos of our presentations should pretty dramatically expand the outreach of what we had to say:):)

The written transcripts will be even more effective, especially when members take them in to share with their Doctors :)

Hello, Janet had already prepared the transcript of Perez' presentation so I didnt complete my work.

I was wondering if any "vimeo" experts could tell me if its possible to download the presentations from the vimeo site?

This makes it easier for me to show doctors (using my lap top) the presentation during my concultations. They seem to have problems with letting me log on to the internet from their computer when I am at their office...

Is this possible?

BR
Martin

It works very well with the DownloadHelper plugin for Firefox.

Glitch at
http://AutoimmunityResearch.org/transcripts/ICA2008_Transcript_TomPerez.pdf

I saw only one page; pressed "page down" key and nothing happened. I thought that 1 page was all there was to it. But when I printed it, I got also pages 2 to 4

I see only one page but if I use the arrows (even page-up and page-down), it does scroll. Make sure the Num Lock is off when using the numeric keypad to scroll...

I'm curious as to why sarcoidosis wasn't included in Tom's chart.

I presented our data on Sarcoidosis in 2004 at the 4th Intl Congress on Autoimmunity in Budapest, following publication of "Sarcoidosis Succumbs..."
http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.autrev.2003.10.001

Sarcoidosis is 'a done deal', even if the rest of the world haven't caught up with that just yet.

My own Porto presentation mentions that Sarcoidosis was reported at Budapest.

Incidentally, a leading Sarcoidosis 'expert', Dr Bob Baughman, was speaking at the Porto conference.  Meg and Belinda both spoke with him, and reported his mind is still stuck in the TNF-alpha immunosuppression-groove.

The great physicist, Max Planck, surveying his own career in his Scientific Autobiography, sadly remarked that "a new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it."

Sarcoidosis patients should not be waiting for Dr Baughman, or his colleagues, to understand what we have achieved. If they had the intellectual capacity to do so, then it would have already become apparent.

Are the transcripts of the other presentations, including Dr Blaney's, available yet?

The transcript of Dr. Marshall's presentation was sent to him last week. Paul has a transcript of Amy's and I began transcribing Dr. Blaney's presentation but have not gotten very far yet. Please go ahead with that one if you want to.
