The 6th International Congress on Autoimmunity in Porto, Portugal, was a wonderful success. Thanks to everyone who has gotten us to this point, especially those whose donations have helped us to mount such a large effort at this important biennial conference.

The videos of the presentations are available at

Written transcripts of these presentations have been produced.

First, the presentation of Cpt. Tom Perez:

..more to come..

Print these up for your Doc:) Thanks to Tom, Janet, and everybody who helped with this transcript effort

Here is the detailed info from prior to the conference-----------------------------------------

The special session I will co-Chair, "VDR and Vit D in Autoimmune Disease," has now been scheduled. Please see:

and

You can click the abstracts in that last link to view exactly what will be discussed :)

Meg is tying it all together with a poster on our study design:

As planned, Joyce and Amy will be giving oral presentations:

Congratulations to all my colleagues for getting their abstracts through the peer-review process!

As more details come to hand I will add them to this thread. FYI, the preliminary conference details are at URL

The abstracts indicate that some very interesting discussion could arise in your session.  I know that the MPers will do well - hope you have fun, too,
Ruth

Knochen,
I don't know if we will have WiFi readily available in Porto.
Let's see what happens... Meg, Belinda and I all have laptops, if there is connectivity...

Dr. Marshall,

I have reviewed the abstracts of the upcoming conference, and want to confirm that all the speakers are "on our side".  That is, supplementation of Vitamin D in the human diet is not beneficial; it is harmful to the human immune system.  If so, this means the ARF is collaborating with individuals in Israel, Netherlands, Italy, and Iran?

And may I ask was "supported by an unrestricted educational grant" from ARF means?

With highest respect and good wishes,

Sherry

An unrestricted grant means that the sponsor has no control at all over the content of the session. The conference content has been selected by the conference's Scientific Committee.

Not all the presentations will be made from the background of what we have discovered, obviously the four we are presenting will do so :) Also it looks as though the Israeli group are pretty close to understanding our message :)

The aim of conference presentations is to let the others working in this field know what we have found, and expose our discoveries to peer-review by the delegates.

Hi there,

How can I access the abstracts of the other conference presenters? I have tried clicking around on the conference website but cannot find the link:?.

Also, specifically, does someone have a link to the Israelis' abstract Dr. Marshall mentions?

Thank you, Cocoa:)

Congrats to all of you! :D  I am excited that the MP will be presented on the world stage such as this.  I hope you have a terrific experience and that your presentations will be well received.

Of course, I look forward to being able to obtain a DVD of the pertinent presentations for myself and my MD following your return. ;)

Thank you for everything you all do for us and the MP. :D:D:D

With respect and admiration,
Carol
